Fiberglass Collinear
The SXC-1503 is an omnidirectional fiberglass collinear antenna for the 144 to 174 MHz VHF band. It radiates equally in all horizontal directions, so one antenna on a mast serves every user around the site, with no pointing or rotator.
It is built for outdoor, all-weather use. The fiberglass enclosure protects the radiators and is transparent to RF, and the aluminium base houses and protects the input termination, which also makes installation simple.
How the design works
The antenna uses cross-fed coaxial radiators stacked on one axis. This avoids the losses of the reactive phasing sections used in many collinear designs. The top section ends in a radiant load, which helps widen the bandwidth. Custom wider-bandwidth versions are available on request.
Why choose it for defence communication
- Omnidirectional coverage: gain varies by no more than ±0.5 dBi around the horizontal plane
- All-weather build: fiberglass tube designed to withstand specified wind loads
- Protected feed point: the input termination sits inside the aluminium base
- Quick to install: fits metal pipes of 1 to 2 inch outer diameter, with side-mount and large-pipe hardware available on request
- Options: different input connector types and colours, so it matches your radio and your site
Defence and military applications
- VHF base stations and command posts: all-round coverage for fixed and field radios
- Tactical and temporary sites: mounts on a portable mast for quick deployment
- VHF communication networks: one antenna serving many mobile and handheld users around a site
- Telemetry and control links: omnidirectional hub antenna for remote units on VHF
